"Teen Accused of Trying to Join IS is Son of MoD Civil Servant"

A teenager accused of trying to join Islamic State is the son of a civil servant at the Ministry of Defence, according to reports.

The British Forces Post Office worker is believed to be one of the parents that alerted police to the disappearance of three teenage boys, including his son, last month.

According to the report in The Times newspaper, he was put on compassionate leave by the MoD, which considered suspending him.

A 19-year-old and two 17-year-olds were taken into custody in Turkey and flown back to Britain.
