Terrier: The Remote-Control Vehicle That Can Move 5,000kg

Weighing in at 32 tonnes, and with the ability to reach speeds of up to 70km/h, the Terrier is the British Army's most advanced engineering vehicle.

The armoured digger's manufacturer, BAE systems, describes it as "agile, adaptable and robust", adding:

“Terrier is a unique platform that combines leading combat vehicle strength with the ability to perform a huge variety of engineering tasks on the battlefield.”

The state-of-the-art piece of machinery can be operated by remote-control, enabling soldiers to clear routes from a safe distance, whilst five on board cameras and thermal imaging technology give soldiers 360 degree surveillance day and night.

The vehicle can be equipped with a 7.62mm General Purpose Machine Gun and smoke grenade launchers for use in combat, whilst it carries a variety of interchangeable equipment, including a forklift and a rock hammer.

It also boasts high levels of mobility, off-road performance and wading capability and can be transported via air in an A400m aircraft.
