UK Completes Cuts to Nuclear Weapon Stockpile
The UK has completed planned cuts to its nuclear weapon stockpile.
The Defence Secretary told MPs the number of deployed Trident warheads carried by each Vanguard-class submarine has been reduced from 48 to 40, with the overall number down to 120.
The government says it is still committed to a submarine-based nuclear deterrent, but the Scottish National Party has promised in the House of Commons that it will do all it can to get Trident’s replacement scrapped.
