"Women Should be Playing Larger Role in Defence Industry"

A senior member of the Commons Defence Select Committee says women should be playing a larger role in the defence industry.

Labour MP Madeleine Moon made the remarks at an event organised by the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI), but added that women are already playing an important role in Britain's military.

Admiral Michelle Howard, meanwhile, is the first woman to become a four-star admiral and Vice Chief of Naval Operations for the US Navy.

For International Women's Day she told a conference at RUSI about the roles women can play in defence, and used an unusual example.
