WWI Royal Marine Finally Identified 100 Years On

A Royal Marine killed in the First World War has been identified almost a century after he was buried in an anonymous grave.

Lance Corporal William Whitmore died while serving aboard an armed merchant ship, when it was torpedoed off the coast of Cornwall in 1918.

With his remains now identified, his descendants were among those to attend a service to rededicate his headstone.
