A British Army veteran has set a new world record for the heaviest seated deadlift.

Martin Tye lifted 505 kg - 5 kg more than Eddie Hall (World' Strongest Man 2017) lifted when he achieved the heaviest strongman deadlift.

The attempt took place at North Somerset’s Strongest Man event in Wraxall.

Martin was medically discharged from the Royal Logistic Corps after being injured in Afghanistan in 2009, suffering injuries to his legs, lungs and shoulder.

He has taken part in two Invictus Games, first at Toronto 2017 and last year's event in Sydney where he picked up 11 medals across the likes of powerlifting, indoor rowing, wheelchair rugby and wheelchair basketball.

He lifted the heaviest weight the Invictus Games has ever seen when he took gold in the Men's Heavyweight IP6 by lifting 206kg.
