Royal Marines bag five medals, including two gold, at CISM Box Cup in Germany

The Royal Marines Boxing Team are celebrating some international success, after coming away with five medals, including two golds, at the 2026 CISM Box Cup in Warendorf, Germany.
The military boxing event, which is run by the International Military Sports Council (CISM), had a healthy turnout of boxers from nine nations competing, including the United Kingdom, Germany, France Austria, Latvia, Slovenia and Luxembourg.
Marine Phil Green, who is being touted as a potential rising star in the Royal Navy boxing ranks, put up three incredible performances – beating his rivals from Austria, France and Germany across the three days of competition.
Mne Green, who only joined the team six months ago, was also crowned Best Boxer of the Tournament, as he continues his undefeated run in his military boxing career.

Marine Lewis Hanif also walked away with a gold medal around his neck after facing a trio of German boxers over the course of the tournament – including a technical knockout win against Toni Schmadicke in the first round of the final.
Captain Euan McConnell and Marine Billy Winwood both came away with silver medals, whereas Marine Ethan McDowell won bronze.
The Marines have been on an excellent run of form in 2026, which has included winning all three of their entered fights at the 2026 Inter Services Championships, as well as winning 11 out of 12 fights against the US Navy in Maryland last month.
