Watch again: RAF Brize Norton take on RAF Leeming in the 2024 RAF Cup final
RAF Brize Norton have beaten RAF Leeming 3-0 to win the RAF Cup Final at Leek Town FC.
In a match shown live on the Forces News YouTube channel, both sides came out of the starting blocks quickly and looked to grab the early initiative. George McCowie's shot for the men in red struck the upright twice but did not go in.
It was Brize who managed to do so, after the referee awarded a penalty with just under a quarter of an hour played, and Dave Wanless made no mistake from the spot to put his side ahead.
Player of the match Allando Davis caused Leeming issues down the left-hand side, and provided the assist for his side's second goal - his cross meeting the boot of Rory Simmons for the 2-0 lead.
Both sides traded chances through the remainder of the first half, but the score remained 2-0 at the interval.
RAF Leeming came out strongly at the beginning of the second half, but still could not convert to reduce deficit.
Brize would have the final say, putting the game virtually out of reach of their opponents with just around 15 minutes to go, courtesy of a Mike Goddard header.
It is another trophy for Brize, to add to their already successful history.
RAF Leeming, meanwhile, continue their search for silverware in the competition, stretching back to 2006.
You can rewatch the match in full on Forces News YouTube and catch-up is also available on BFBS TV (for serving personnel only).
