UKAF women draw with German Bundeswehr after stunning injury time equaliser

A stunning injury time goal from Ciara Boylan helped UKAF Women draw 1-1 with the German Bundeswehr at Aldershot Town FC.

Dry conditions at the Hampshire ground allowed for open football, but neither side could break the deadlock in the first half.

The UKAF side, featuring a balance of all three services, had their chances, notably with an Anthea Kaptein strike early on.

The game opened up towards the interval, with Georgia Smith tipping a German shot over the bar and Jessica Schlegel getting close for the visitors shortly after.

Demi Edwards also had a first-half opportunity, but the score was 0-0 at the break.

Fifty-five minutes passed before the scoreboard changed – poor UKAF defence was exploited by Anna-Lena Wassermann to put the Bundeswehr women 1-0 up.

It was almost repeated fifteen minutes later when UKAF were again caught out in defence, but Annika Michel could not capitalise.

With just minutes remaining, and the game in injury time, UKAF's Ciara Boylan belted a screamer from the edge of the box past the outstretched German keeper to level the match at 1-1.
