RAF field hockey player Liam Sanford scored a goal at the FIH Pro League Games in Santiago del Estero to contribute to GB Hockey's 2-2 win against hosts Argentina, with Great Britain winning with bonus points via a shootout.

The Senior Aircraftman, who also plays for the Old Georgians as a defender, scored a penalty corner to count his first-ever goal as a player for Great Britain.

A corner from Sanford's teammate Phil Roper earlier in the game helped give Great Britain the lead over Argentina at half-time.

A series of yellow cards gave Argentina a man advantage, and the hosts managed to come back in the second half to equalise the scoreboard, resulting in the match being decided in a shootout.

An outstanding effort from Zach Wallace and Phil Roper, and some saves from keeper Ollie Payne, and Great Britain won after taking bonus points against Argentina.

The British men finish the league at the top of the table after two unbeaten games against Argentina and the Netherlands, with one victory and drawing three matches, where they won all three shootouts for nine points out of a possible 12.
