Army vs Navy showdown in Challenge Cup second round

The British Army will tackle their old rivals from the Royal Navy in the second round of the Challenge Cup.

Both sides knew a potential military clash was on the line ahead of their round one matches, but both teams progressed to confirm the tie.

The Army beat Orrell St James in Wigan while the Navy dominated in South Wales against Bridgend Blue Bells.

This will be the first Army v Navy senior men's rugby league match since the Inter Services in 2019.

In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic meant no rugby league was played at the time of the competition.

A year later, the Navy withdrew from the Inter Services due to a lack of players available.
