The RAF men's rugby league team's Challenge Cup first round clash has been postponed due to a frozen pitch.

The Air Force travelled to Yorkshire to take on Heworth but now, the match will be rearranged for a later date.

Despite sunshine from early morning and a successful initial pitch inspection, a second look from referee George Cox, as well as both teams, deemed the surface unplayable.

It's expected that the match will be attempted to be played next weekend with details still to be confirmed by both teams.

The second round of the Challenge Cup is scheduled for the weekend of January 24/25 with the winner of Heworth v RAF getting a plum home tie against Championship side Keighley Cougars.
