UK Armed Forces men's rugby league team lose deciding President's Cup clash

Watch: Highlights of UKAF's deciding President's Cup clash against England Universities.

The men's UK Armed Forces rugby league team have been beaten in the deciding match of the 2023 President's Cup competition.

UKAF had won their two previous matches in the tournament against Great Britain Police and Great Britain Teachers.

However, defeat in round three to England Universities ends UKAF's dominance of the competition which they had won for the past two years.

The students had also previously beaten GB Teachers and GB Police, meaning their UKAF showdown was a winner-takes-all clash.

The match, which was called 'game of the tournament' by the Rugby Football League, saw UKAF score two tries in defeat.

RAF duo Kieron Prescott and Joe Thresh got on the scoresheet, but England Universities' six tries overwhelmed the military team.

Luke Phoenix's double was the highlight as the students won 32-12 to claim their first President's Cup in five years.
