RAF rugby star Flight Lieutenant Amy Cokayne scored twice to help England to a stunning 84-19 win over Fiji as the Women's Rugby World Cup got underway in New Zealand.

The Harlequins hooker scored a try in the first half of England's opening match and then followed that up with another try early in the second half.

The Red Roses, who have been dubbed the favourites to win the tournament, now extend their record-winning run to 26 test wins.

The World Cup opener between Wales and Scotland also saw two RAF players in action.

Scotland's Flying Officer Sarah Bonar and Wales' Flying Officer Carys Williams-Morris went head-to-head in a thrilling match as Wales secured a crucial 18-15 win over Scotland to get their World Cup campaign underway.

England will be back in action as they face France in their second pool game on Saturday.

Scotland will also play on Saturday as they face Australia, while Wales will face hosts New Zealand on Sunday.
