Army U23s dominate in opening Inter Services clash against the Navy
The Army U23s have dominated the Navy U23s in the opening match of the Inter Services Championships in Plymouth.
A 27-6 win at Brickfields means the Army can be crowned champions with a win over the RAF in Aldershot next week.
This was the first Inter Services rugby union action in two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
A commanding 20-0 lead at the break, helped by a super try from Josh Raqio, had the men in red in complete control of what is the Navy's home fixture.
They even extended their lead to 27-0 but a succession of infringements gave the Navy some consolation points.
Two penalties from Ollie Raynor cheered up the home crowd but overall it was a disappointing night for the Senior Service.
Gareth Slade-Jones' Army team will now aim to win the title in their home match against the Air Force.
