RAF v Navy rugby match called off after fire in Witney clubhouse

WATCH: See how emergency services were called to the scene of an Inter Services rugby union clash.

The Inter Services opener between the RAF U23s and Royal Navy U23s has been called off after a fire broke out in the clubhouse at Witney RFC.

With just over an hour to go before the scheduled kick off time, fire service personnel arrived to deal with a fire in the clubhouse that resulted in a lack of power on the premises.

That lack of power included the pitch's floodlights and officials were given no choice but to postpone the match.

It's been confirmed that everybody was evacuated from the building safely.

No details have been released as to when the match will be replayed with the Navy still still set to face the Army in Portsmouth next week.

We will more details on this breaking story as we get it.
