Meet America's 'Doomsday Plane' that defends US president from nuclear disasters

The United States aircraft known as the 'Doomsday Plane' has visited the Royal International Air Tattoo for the first time in its 60-year history.

The E-4B is a converted Boeing 747 fitted with a suite of sophisticated communications equipment.

In the event of an attack or disaster, it allows the President and his Secretary of Defense to set up a war room and communicate from the safety of the air.

The aircraft's commander, Colonel Brian Golden explains.
