Weapons and Kit

The latest UK and US weapons being sent to Ukraine explained

Both the UK and US have recently pledged additional kit to help Ukraine in the war against Russia.

The latest commitment from the US includes six NASAMS (National Advanced Surface to Air Missile System), designed to protect against drones, helicopters, cruise missiles and aircraft.

These systems and the other equipment being sent will "sustain Ukraine's most critical capability needs in the medium to long-term", the US has said.

The UK is sending 850 black hornet micro-drones, each one capable of relaying live video and pictures to ground forces, helping them to defend urban areas.

The weapons and surveillance systems come as Russia's invasion of Ukraine prepares to enter its seventh month.
