Ukraine: Soldiers trapped at Mariupol steel works 'prepared to die there'

A former Royal Marine in Ukraine has said Ukrainian soldiers inside the Azovstal steel plant in Mariupol "know it's the last stand".

Emile Ghessen, now a filmmaker, is in Kyiv and told Forces News the Russian force in Mariupol is "extensive", with those trapped underneath the Azovstal steel plant living in "terrible" conditions.

Mr Ghessen added the Ukrainian soldiers are putting out messages on social media to say "they're prepared to die there" as Russia "are throwing everything they've got" at the plant.

"It's going to be a bloodbath," he said.
