Russia's attack on Ukraine began early this morning, described as a "vast invasion" by Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

NATO's military commanders have been granted more authority to deploy forces "wherever it is needed", according to the alliance's Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

Russian President Vladimir Putin warned other countries that any attempt to interfere in their military offensive would lead to "consequences you have never seen".
