Ukraine strikes Russian airfield amid surge of 600-plus Russian aerial bomb attacks this week

Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky said on Saturday that Russia had used more than 600 guided aerial bombs to attack Ukraine in the past week.
The Ukrainian military said that it had conducted an overnight attack on Russia's Morozovsk airfield, the strike reportedly targeting an ammunition depot, which housed guided aerial bombs and other equipment.
"Russian combat aviation must be destroyed wherever it is, by all effective means," President Zelensky said in a post on Telegram.
Meanwhile, several regions across western Russia have experienced drone attacks overnight, according to Russian media.
Russian news Channel One reported that air defence systems intercepted and destroyed 75 Ukrainian drones on the night of 2 August.
Eyewitness footage of two drones striking a residential building in Oryol has been circulated by Ukrainian and Russian media.
The video captures the distinct humming of an approaching drone, followed by a powerful explosion that damages apartments on the upper floors.
Additionally, the Ukrainian Air Force said it shot down 24 out of 29 Iranian-made Shahed drones launched by Russia during the night.
