What does $8bn of US kit for Ukraine look like?

The US has announced that even more military equipment and weaponry will be sent to Ukraine to bolster defences against Russia.

Stating that the Biden administration has now committed about $8bn to Ukraine, a statement released by the Department of Defense did not specify how much of the total had already reached the hands of those fighting the invasion.

As well as funding for 'training, maintenance, and sustainment', here's a breakdown of what the US is providing to Ukraine.

Vehicles and artillery

  • More than 700 Switchblade Tactical Unmanned Aerial Systems
  • 126 155mm Howitzers and 126 Tactical Vehicles to tow them
  • 22 Tactical Vehicles to recover equipment
  • 20 Mi-17 helicopters
  • 12 High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems and ammunition
  • Hundreds of Armoured High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles
  • 200 M113 Armoured Personnel Carriers
  • 121 Phoenix Ghost Tactical Unmanned Aerial Systems

  • 18 coastal and riverine patrol boats
