Women

What is it like being a woman on a submarine?

In 2014, three women became the first female submariners in the then 110-year history of the Submarine Service.

Petty Officer Risker a Submariner aboard HMS Anson has spoken about her desire to "inspire" more women to join and importantly progress up the ranks to more decision making positions.

She said: "Seeing females making decisions, being listened to is amazing - and myself, recently promoted, now as a senior rank on board the submarine.

"I just want to use that position that I've got to try to inspire some of the other females that have recently joined who are a bit more junior to myself."
