Lockdown Videos: Best Of The Rest Of Our Forces Voices Competition

Forces Voices videography

These videos show the talents of the Armed Forces family and just how creative you all can be.

During the height of lockdown, we asked you and your children to get creative in photography, arts & crafts, videography and written word/audio as part of our Forces Voices competition.

All video entries were judged by television and film producer Guy Tannahill whose career spans more than 30 years and has included Hollywood blockbusters, critically acclaimed independent features and award-winning high-end television drama.

The following videos might not have made the final shortlists in the winner categories but they are all worthy entries so we are showcasing them here for all to see and to show the amazing range of creativity in the Armed Forces community.

Over 18 Entries

Peter Shepherd: VE Day Recorders

"During lockdown there was limited entertainment, so we made a recorder ensemble individually practising, coming together digitally and once (distancing) to perform for VE Day in the Falklands' Officers' mess.

"This was filmed prior to everyone coming in to collect drinks and their dinner."

Charles Brunskill: Home-Made Hammock

"With the amazing weather we have had over lockdown, I wanted to show people how they can make a hammock to relax in without having to leave the house.

"This hammock is made from a couple of sticks, a bed sheet and some string. And, if I do say so myself, it's fantastic!"

Under 18 Entries

Max Wildish: Stay Home, Stay Safe

Max was inspired by the radio and TV adverts but wanted to use a friendlier voice.

This is a stay-at-home video that Max has made entirely on his own using Power Director.

Lillian Holland: Let’s Bee Friends

"I asked my Daddy to leave a wild patch of garden to grow and built a lovely fairy garden.

"Before I knew it lots of wildlife moved in, including lots of busy, buzzy bees.

"I told my friend Benjamin all about it and want to share it with you."

Blair Campbell: Pollution Solution

"My husband is currently deployed and my nine-year-old son Blair and I are home alone, with me working full time and home learning.

"He has struggled to be motivated during these difficult times.

"Blair had an English project to do for school, learning about persuasive raps/poems, and at the end of this, he had to create his own around saving our planet.

"He’s enthusiastic about this subject, and researched online facts about pollution, energy saving and deforestation ... and using the information from English lesson, as well as his researched fact, this is what he came up with.

"A powerful message from a nine-year-old.

"I feel like he deserves to be recognised for his poem, Pollution Solution."

Molly Symonds: Chillin'

"This short clip represents an afternoon in the sunshine chilling out for me."
