Former Interpreter's Family Suffering For 'British Army' Work In Afghanistan

As military evacuation work in Afghanistan continues, the Taliban is controlling access to Kabul airport whilst also threatening those associated with former UK staff.

Family members of one former Afghan interpreter who worked with the Army have been threated, still unable to leave the country.

In the aftermath of the Taliban takeover, personnel have deployed to ensure eligible individuals make it out of Afghanistan.

Many, including dozens of interpreters trapped in the city, face a long wait in Kabul despite holding valid paperwork.

Jamal, who worked as interpreter for UK forces, now fears for his family despite being back home, after his 16 year-old brother was taken by the Taliban for investigation.

Speaking to Forces News, he asked:

"How much more do we have to suffer for the work we do for the British Army?"
