What is the Firework Heroes Code?

Bonfire night can be a difficult time of year for military veterans.

The sudden bangs and the smell of fireworks can trigger some former personnel to relive traumatic events.

Military charity Help for Heroes says the vast majority of veterans they support who suffer with mental health issues don't like fireworks – especially unplanned displays in neighbours' gardens.

Now, Help for Heroes has issued a new "Firework Heroes Code" to help mitigate the problem, asking the public to consider veterans in their communities when holding displays.
