Retrial Ordered After Jury Fails To Reach Verdicts Over Alleged Terror Plot

A jury has failed to reach verdicts in the trial of a man accused of plotting a drone strike on British soil.

Hisham Muhammad, 25, allegedly targeted British military or police for a so-called Islamic State-inspired attack last summer.

He allegedly amassed a stash of weapons including axes, bear-claws, a tomahawk, a machete, and Japanese "ninja eggs" packed with glass shards and chilli seeds before his arrest last June.

Muhammad, of Victoria Avenue, Whitefield, Bury, Greater Manchester, denied engaging in conduct in preparation for acts of terrorism.

His cousin Faisal Abu Ahmad, 24, who he lived with, denied failing to disclose the alleged plot to authorities.

An Old Bailey jury deliberated for 37 hours but was unable to reach verdicts and was discharged.

Judge Richard Marks QC ordered a retrial to start on 1 June next year.
