Royal Navy brother meets his Royal Air Force sibling for very first time on ops
Both Andrew and Alex Warry chose a career in the military, but with Andrew in the Navy and his younger brother Alex in the RAF, the pair had never crossed paths - until now.
The chance meeting came about when Corporal Alex Warry was assigned to the Middle East with 83 Expeditionary Air Group to support A400M Atlas operations.
His older brother, a 30-year-old petty officer operations room specialist, who has already been deployed to the Gulf for over two years, is currently serving on the frigate HMS Lancaster in Bahrain.
Despite never previously working together, their stars were finally aligned when Cpl Warry was part of a crew delivering supplies for HMS Lancaster.
The two brothers were able to meet briefly on the tarmac and pose for a picture in front of the A400M.
Petty Officer Warry has now been serving in the Royal Navy for 12 years, visiting over 20 countries during that time.
More recently, on HMS Lancaster, he was involved with ensuring the safe passage of merchant shipping through the Red Sea and numerous drugs busts.
Two brothers on different career paths
Both brothers were drawn to a life in the military by their late grandfather, who served in the Royal Navy, but the siblings chose different branches of the Armed Forces.
Unlike his brother, 23-year-old Cpl Warry did not like the idea of life on a ship and instead joined the RAF in 2021, spending two years at Brize Norton before joining Atlas Force Operations, supporting A400s around the globe.
The pair almost had a similar chance meeting a few years ago in Gibraltar, but were prevented from seeing each other in person due to the Covid restrictions at the time.
