Saturday 22nd December
A giant waves crashed into the islands of Sumatra and Java on Saturday evening, killing at least 281 people and injuring 1,016.
It is believed that volcanic activity set off undersea landslides which lead to the huge waves.
The warning signs for a tsunami created by undersea landslides are different to when a tsunami is caused by an earthquake.
One of these being that the water does not recede back from the shore, this meant there was minimal warning before the wave struck.
There are still fears another tsunami could hit.
People living close to Anak Krakatau volcano have been warned to keep away from the beaches.
This is not the first time Indonesia has been devastated by a tsunami at Christmas time.
Back in 2004, on the 26th December, a series of big waves triggered by a strong earthquake in the Indian Ocean killed about 228,000 people in 13 countries with Indonesia the worst affected.
