'We Will Burn Your House': Taliban Hunts Former UK Staff Unable To Escape Afghanistan
A former British Army gardener in Afghanistan has lost all hope for sanctuary in the UK as he continues to hide from the Taliban, his son says.
Jamal, a former Afghan interpreter himself, believes the UK does not "care" about his father's case to relocate and gives more "privilege" to former interpreters looking to leave the country.
Days ago, Jamal's mother received a knock on the door and was threatened by Taliban fighters.
"They mentioned my father’s name and my mum denied and said, 'I don't know this person'," Jamal told Forces News.
"They said, 'No, we know the person is in this house or is probably somewhere else. If you're not going to find this person for us, we will burn your house'."
The UK has deployed about 600 troops to Afghanistan to evacuate British nationals and aid the evacuation of former British staff eligible for relocation under the Afghan Relocation and Assistance Policy (ARAP).
