Who Wears Wins: Britain's Military Watch Manufacturer

British watchmaker Bremont teamed up with ejection seat manufacturer Martin-Baker to create custom-made watches for those in the Armed Forces in 2007.

The video above gives unique access to Bremont's office and goes behind-the-scenes to see the hand-made watch production process.

The watches, designed by Bremont, are built to be able to withstand the 30gs of force a pilot can experience after pulling the ejection chord.

Martin-Baker, for those not in the know, design and supply 70% of the world's air forces with fighter-jet ejector seats.

The two British companies hooked up with the aim of creating a watch that would survive not only the forces of an ejection but also the same extreme tests that Martin-Baker seats must undergo to ensure decades of reliable service on the front line.

"We have to put the seat through one of the most comprehensive qualification programmes for a product", says Martin-Baker vice president Andrew Martin. "Every possible scenario you could come up with."
