601 Squadron Royal Auxiliary Air Force receives new Standard

601 Squadron Royal Auxiliary Air Force has received a new Standard at the RAF museum, Hendon.

The squadron was known as The Millionaires' Squadron in the 1930s due to the lavish lifestyles of its members.

It also flew Hawker Hurricanes during the Battle of Britain before being disbanded in 1957.

However, in 2017 it was stood up again with the role of providing strategic advice to the RAF and has now been presented with a new standard by Air Chief Marshal Sir Mike Wigston, Chief of the Air Staff, symbolising the importance the RAF places on the squadron.
