RAF Typhoons have provided close air support to ground units on a multinational exercise in Poland.

The fast jets from 6 Squadron in RAF Lossiemouth were supported from a Voyager from RAF Brize Norton for air-to-air refuelling, and worked alongside Polish SU-22s, F-16s and US MQ-9 aircraft, the RAF said.

They communicated with controllers and teams on the ground to identify simulated enemy targets for Paveway IV guided bombs.

RAF Regiment controllers attached to the 1 Royal Welsh Battlegroup based in Tapa, Estonia, and Polish observers, relayed information to units that operated a ground-based laser designator.

RAF Regiment Controller, Flight Lieutenant Parsons, said: "It has been a great opportunity to work with the Polish Army to improve interoperability. We have really enjoyed sharing knowledge."
