Four Facts About Pegasus Bridge

Pegasus Bridge was played a vital role in preventing a German counter-attack during the weeks following the Normandy Invasion by Allied Forces during the Second World War.  

It was taken intact by the British 6th Airborne Division, commanded by Major John Howard as part of Operation Tonga.
