Augmented reality headsets to revolutionise work on military jets for maintenence crews

Mixed reality headsets are set to revolutionise the way RAF maintenance crews work on fast jets, allowing hands-free access to technical publications.

They also offer the user the capability to view a digital twin of the aircraft and its maintenance history with 3D visualisations of maintenance steps.

The RAF and BAE Systems are developing new ways fast jets can be supported by smarter and faster transformative technologies.

RAF Coningsby played host to a tech roadshow, showing how the new solutions could increase the speed of aircraft maintenance and improve the availability of frontline Typhoon fighter jets and, in the future, Tempest.
