IDRC Matchday 2 Round-Up: Sides Look To Book Quarter-Final Spots

The second round of matches at this year's IDRC have taken place, with several sides securing their places in the quarter-finals of the tournament.

The British Army enjoyed a record-breaking rout against Canada as they ran in a total of 20 tries, including eight for winger Chris Leathem, in a 128-6 win at Aldershot. Just click above to watch Julian Evans' report on that game.

The RAF, meanwhile, bounced back from a 21-18 loss to Tonga in their opener, with a win against Georgia that puts them back in the qualification mix.

And there was a fantastic Southern Hemisphere match between Tonga and South Africa, which ultimately ended 32-31 to the Springboks after they mounted a late comeback. Click below to see all the action from those two fixtures...

Tonga's fellow South Pacific islanders, Fiji, meanwhile, triumphed 78-3 over Japan, being dominant throughout.

That result, coupled with their 51-17 win over the Royal Navy on matchday 1, secured their passage through to the later stages of the tournament.

And there was more disappointment for the Senior Service in the second round of fixtures, after they fell to a 24-34 defeat despite a much-improved performance against New Zealand. They'll now need a miracle if they're to qualify.

Elsewhere, there was a last minute 15-11 victory for Australia over France.
