MoD Awards £165m Contract to Upgrade Typhoons

£165 million contract has been awarded to BAE Systems to upgrade the RAF's Eurofighter Typhoon.

The deal between the company and the Ministry of Defence was made at the International Defence Exhibition in Abu Dhabi, and will see the aircraft being adpted to use the Brimstone II missile.

The MoD says the weapon, which has already been used by RAF Tornados in Afghanistan, Libya and Iraq, will allow the Typhoon to hit fast-moving targets with low collateral damage.

The upgrades are expected to be delivered into RAF service in late 2018.
