MoD Warned to Fit Typhoons With Collision Avoidance System

The Ministry of Defence has been warned to fit a collision avoidance system to its Typhoon fast jets.

The head of the Military Aviation Authority has told senior officials that not fitting the system would be ‘an unnecessary risk’ in light of recent collisions involving Tornados.

He goes on to raise the ‘improbable’ but ‘catastrophic’ possibility of a collision between a fighter jet and an airliner.

Will Inglis reports.
