
RAF hockey star Liam Sanford selected for Men's World Cup in India

RAF hockey star Liam Sanford will represent England in the FIH Hockey Men's World Cup in India.
The 25-year-old Senior Aircraftman is a defender and was named Armed Forces Sportsman of the Year in 2017.
SAC Sanford's talents helped England reach the bronze in the Commonwealth Games in 2018.

He has now been confirmed as one of the members of the England squad who will play in India from 13 to 29 January 2023.
Despite an injury setback in 2019, Sanford was able to compete again and helped Team GB qualify for Tokyo 2020.
After this success, he was picked for the winning GB squad that played in Argentina.
Three appearances in four games saw him score his first goal against Argentina, helping his country reach the top table.
As a serving Senior Aircraftman with the RAF, Liam is part of the service's Elite Athlete Scheme, allowing him to represent and serve his country at the same time.
