Behind The Scenes On The Red Carpet
It’s always exciting to go to any premiere - experiencing the hysteria of the fans, the music and the stars coming out in force.
So I thought I’d give a little behind-the-scenes glimpse of what it’s really like to be a reporter on the red carpet.
Last night centred around two Hollywood superstars - one a British idol and the other reportedly the third highest paid actor in the world.
Both are well-known and well-loved, but it’s not often that you see Sir Michael Caine and Vin Diesel make a joint appearance.
But that changed as they both attended The Last Witch Hunter European premiere at the Empire cinema in Leicester Square, London, and I was lucky enough to go along to report for The Little Film Show.
The movie is a supernatural action where Vin Diesel plays Kaulder, an immortal witch hunter who is the last of his kind. He must save humanity from the evil witches who live among us as a plague threatens New York City.
It's very different from the world of the Fast and Furious; although well-timed with Halloween soon upon us.
So, what was Sir Michael Caine like? He was exactly as you would imagine! A lovely man, extremely friendly and a true Londoner with plenty of good-natured banter with everyone he came across. I still can’t believe that he’s 82 years old!
What I quickly learnt was that he has been friends with Vin Diesel for 12 years, so filming together was even more enjoyable than usual.
Apparently Vin came out of early retirement to star in the film when he heard that Michael Caine would be taking part. And their 'bromance' was evident as they joked around whilst posing for photos together.
Vin Diesel was….how do I put it? Wacky, crazy, the macho alpha-male man, where what you see is what you get. In other words, he was pretty cocky but pleasant enough all the same!
He may be one of the highest-paid actors on the planet but it must still be tiring to be interviewed over and over again, and so it's understandable that he lost his train of thought a few times whilst giving his answers.
And he was very impressive with the crowds, making time to sign as many autographs as he could and taking plenty of selfies with his fans.
I also met and interviewed the very beautiful Rose Leslie. She wore a gorgeous sparkly bronze and nude dress and said how exciting it was to go from TV actress in The Game of Thrones and Downton Abbey to a blockbuster movie.
The report and all the interviews will be on The Little Film Show from Friday 23rd October on Forces TV and online.
