Body Of Missing Soldier Found In Thailand
The body of a former British soldier has been found after he went missing in Thailand last month.

35-year-old Steve Balfour was last seen on May 14 in the resort of Pattaya near to where his ex-wife and six-year-old daughter, Georgina, live.

His body was reportedly found in a room above a bar in the red light area the next day but it couldn’t be identified and was taken to a police morgue in Bangkok.

He was later identified by a tattoo of his daughter’s name on his arm.

The local paper, Pattaya One said a 22-year-old vice worker has been questioned by police.

Speaking to the Daily Record, his father, Archie Balfour, who served with him in the Royal Scots said:
“Only two things could have happened to Steven. Either he has committed suicide or he has been killed.”
“I know for a fact that he would never take his own life. He completely doted on Georgina and did everything for her – which only leaves one thing.”
“We are certain he has been killed or murdered.”

It is understood that Steve worked as a bodyguard in Iraq and worked shift patterns that enabled him to travel to Thailand to see his daughter regularly.

Friends of the former soldier had previously set up a crowd-funding page which is aiming to raise £15,000 to find Steve.

It has so far reached over £1,000.
