British Military Taking Hearing Loss Seriously
Preventing permanent ringing in the ears is the aim of UK Tinnutus Awareness Week, a campaign that is being mirrored by health professionals working for the British Forces in Germany.
Allan Harthern is the military community in Germany’s only audiologist. He suffered hearing loss himself while a soldier in the first Gulf War in 1991.
His message is that soldiers already exposed to noise in their working lives, need to take particular care off duty and should consider wearing ear plugs for some leisure activites.
