Campaign To Raise Money For RAF Veteran's Funeral

Campaign To Raise Money For RAF Veteran's Funeral
A crowdfunding campaign has been started to raise money for the funeral of an RAF veteran, who died last month at the age of 80 with no family or means of paying for his own burial.

Gerald Sullivan, from Pontlottyn in Caerphilly, has been described as an 'amazing true gentleman' who always had a smile to lighten the mood.

And now friend and next of kin Kathryn Wheaton has set up a page, along with her husband Matthew, to cover the costs of his funeral. She said:
"Gerald served his country during the 1950s in the RAF and we feel that this old gentleman should be laid to rest with the dignity he deserves."
"Any donations are very much appreciated. Thank you so much to everyone who has or will make a donation."

The page has now raised more than £1,500, with the full cost of the funeral and burial estimated at £3,800.

And it has even attracted the attention of Hollywood actor Michael Sheen, who donated £500 to the cause.
