The Challenges Of Saving Lives In Combat Zones
The UK's Medical Emergency Response Team, the MERT, flew thousands of missions in Afghanistan, collecting casualties from the battlefield and flying them to hospital in the back of a Chinook.
They gave critical treatment that saved many lives.
Our reporter Charlotte Cross filmed with the MERT in Helmand back in 2009.
She recently met up with some of the team, to hear their recollections from that time.
