Defence Chiefs Issue Christmas Message

The Defence Secretary Michael Fallon, the Chief of the Defence Staff of the British Armed Forces General Sir Nick Houghton and the Permanent Secretary Jon Thompson have issued a Christmas message to all Defence personnel:

"By any standards 2015 has been an immensely busy year for Defence. We found ourselves on or supporting an ever wider range of operations; and we delivered a Strategic Defence and Security Review that sets a hugely positive course for the future of Defence.

"The year again exemplified the value to the nation of the work that you all do, whether military or civilian."

"Next year will be no less challenging, not least as we implement the decisions made in the SDSR and continue to deploy our people forward on operations, including over Syria.

"But for now, whether you are serving on the front line, in the back office, or anywhere in between, we want to thank you all for your remarkable contribution in 2015 and to wish you and your families a very happy Christmas and New Year."
