Headley Court Partially Closed Due To Water Contamination

One of Britain’s major rehabilitation centres has been temporarily shut down because of a contaminated water supply.

Headley Court hospital in Surrey has also been without central heating all winter.

Patients have been relying on portable fan heaters to stay warm.

The main buildings have been closed this weekend while repair work is carried out.

Those who spent the weekend at home were asked not to return Monday after details of water contamination were leaked to the papers over the weekend.

It is thought contractors are trying to solve the problem.

A MOD spokesperson said:

"While the issue is affecting a small number of areas and the risk to patients is low, it needs to be resolved. The contractor is responsible for that and we are working with them so it happens as quickly as possible."
