Inside Cheyenne Mountain: Protecting The US For 50 Years

If you're a fan of the science fiction series 'Stargate', then you'll be familiar with the entrance to its secret base - the Cheyenne Mountain complex in the Rocky Mountains in Colorado.

It was the largest underground construction project ever undertaken during the Cold War and today remains a key military installation for defending the US and Canada.

On 20th April 1966, the Cheyenne Mountain complex went online and began protecting North America's skies and ensuring nuclear deterrants at all times.

The Pentagon has allowed cameras inside to see some of its modern-day facilities.
