Kilted Veteran Embarks On 560-Mile Run

A former soldier turned global marathon runner who says that he has now run the equivalent of one and a half times the circumference of the earth is hitting the road again.

John McGurk and a team of athletes have left his adopted home at Osnabruck in Germany on a 560-mile trek that will end on Monday near his birthplace in Glasgow.

The Scotsman says that he was abused during many years in a children’s home and the aim of his latest venture is to raise £35,000 to help children living in poverty in Glasgow today.
