Shock Proposal Steals The Show At The Millies

One soldier who missed out on an award at The Sun's military awards made up for it in spectacular fashion.

Rod Stewart got up on stage, and called out LCpl Gary Crane's name.

He then shocked his girlfriend, Kristine Gaffney, by getting down on one knee and popping the question.

Luckily for LCpl Crane, in front of a packed crowd of his military comrades, she said "yes".

The couple were then presented with champagne and a bouquet of flowers by Rod, and his wife, Penny Lancaster.

LCpl Crane, 25, of 2 Rifles, was nominated for 'Most Outstanding Soldier' at the Millies.

Despite the award eventually going to Maj Andrew Todd, 2nd Battalion Royal Gurkha Rifles, who helped 116 people to safety on Mount Everest, during the earthquake in Nepal last year, LCpl Crane made sure it was a night neither he, nor his fiancée, would ever forget.
