Strafing: How To Call In An Airstrike
Footage has been released of the Afghan Air Force (AAF) learning how to call in airstrikes as part of Operation Resolute Support.
The NATO-led mission has been providing training, advice, assistance, and counter-terror support to over 12,000 Afghan troops since the start of last year.
The video shows tactical air controllers training with AAF pilots and NATO advisers in MD 530 attack helicopters, as they strafe targets at a training ground near Kabul.
The controllers will be deployed to Helmand province to support the air force.
It comes as the Afghan Taliban announce the start of their annual spring offensive.
The militant group said in a statement it would carry out large-scale attacks across the country.
